JAYD SWART

Jayd Swart was born in Johannesburg South Africa in 1991.

She trained in RAD ballet and later in modern. She started choreographing at the age of 14 taking numerous awards in choreographic competitions.

She was a member and lead dancer of the Johannesburg Youth Ballet and started dancing professionally at the age of 16.  

Jayd then studied dance at the Tshwane University of Technology for three years and obtained her National Diploma in Dance where she was named best dancer and choreographer.

She danced with Kmad dance company, took part in Grahamstown National Arts Festival, Dance Umbrella and Dance for a Cure.  

She teaches contemporary dance at the National School of the Arts (NSA) and the Jo’burg Ballet Company.  


Jayd is enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Programme from 2017.


Jayd is the founder and director of the JOZI Youth Dance Company (JYDC) with dancers from all over the country. 

She choreographs freelance for dance schools, companies and competitions both nationally and internationally.

She coaches dancers for international competitions and takes part in initiatives to further South African dance as well as outreach programmes.
